How the ratings work
Everyone starts on 1500. Win a match and you take points from your opponent; beat someone rated far above you and you take a lot, beat someone far below and you take very few.
Only televised majors count: the World Championship, the World Matchplay, the Grand Prix, the Grand Slam, the UK Open, the Players Championship Finals, the European Championship, the Masters, the World Series Finals and the Premier League play-offs.
A player's first 15 televised matches move their rating faster, so new names settle quickly.
Our match predictions use the ratings plus each player's last five televised averages. Tested on 520 matches it had never seen, it picked the winner 66% of the time. Darts is a game of fine margins, so treat every percentage as our estimate, not a certainty.
The ratings update every morning as results come in.
